FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I expect on my first visit?

You’ll be asked to fill out an Client Intake and HIPPA form. This is where you record any injuries, health history and other physical conditions we should know about -- all of which is confidential. We recommend printing these forms from our website and filling out prior to your appointment; otherwise please arrive 10 minutes early so you may complete the forms without feeling rushed.

Communication is key throughout your session. If this is your first massage, tell the therapist, who will answer any questions you have and walk you through the process so you feel comfortable.

Your therapist will then leave the room while you undress to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely undress, while others remain partially clothed. You'll lie on the massage table under the draping. Your therapist will knock before entering the room.

During your session, your therapist will uncover only that part of the body being worked on. Ladies, if you are receiving abdominal massage, your chest will be covered.

Remember, this is YOUR massage. The face cradle can be adjusted and table heated. Should you experience pain or discomfort when working a particularly tight area, it is EXTREMELY important to tell us. Your therapist can adapt using different techniques to relax stubborn muscles. During future visits, your therapist will ask about any changes to your conditions and medications, further tailoring your massage experience.

Is it safe to use a muscle relaxant before getting a massage?

Unless your physician has recommended something, it's best not to be impaired in any way when receiving a massage so that you can appropriate assess the pressure of the massage and what you are feeling.

Is it better to get a massage before or after my workout?

After is generally better to speed healing your body may need and to prepare for your next workout.  Plus, it is a wonderful way to relax and reward yourself for all the hard, healthy work you just did.

If I am not feeling well the day of my appointment should I reschedule?

Please call to reschedule your appointment. You should not receive a massage while you are sick or feeling like you are “coming down with something.”  You should not get a massage if you have a fever, nausea, a cold or the flu, or any contagious illness. It is also recommended that you wait two days after receiving any vaccinations.

Do You Take Insurance or FSA/HSA cards?

It’s best to ask your insurance administrator or the insurance company to determine if your massage is covered.  Although we do not submit for payment, we can supply you with a receipt that most insurance companies will accept for your reimbursement.

We also accept FSA/HSA cards if your company allows for massage.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Please call as soon as you know you are unable to come in.  Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a $75 charge.  If you are going to be late, we will try to accommodate you within your scheduled time at the regular fee. We cannot add time to the end of your massage as it will disrupt the next appointment.

Should I tip?

It's never required but always appreciated when clients choose to do so. Tipping 10% to 20% or more of the pre-discounted price is usually the range. Tips can be added onto your credit card.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We do not accept walk ins. All appointments must be made in advance. You may book appointments online or call. Please note: Online booking does not show available appointments within a 24 hour window. You will need to call the office to inquire about availability.

How often should I receive a massage?

For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one or two massages a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic conditions that are interfering with your daily life. There are many people who incorporate massage therapy at least twice a month for optimal therapeutic relief.

Do you massage children?
Yes. Please note that clients under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian prior to the massage. In addition, NJ massage regulation requires a parent or legal guardian to be present in the massage room for clients under the age of 16.

COVID Guidelines:
Effective May 28, 2021, to continue to protect our immunocompromised, pregnant clients, and clients ineligible for the vaccine, we require masks in the common areas (reception area and hallway). For some therapists, use of mask in the room is optional. Please check with your scheduled massage therapist if this is a concern for you.
